Brunswick Sheriff’s Office warns of telephone lottery scam (The Wilmington Star-News)

BRUNSWICK COUNTY | The Brunswick Sheriff’s Office has received reports of a telephone scam involving lottery winnings and transaction fees, according to a news release. Lt. Marty Folding with the sheriff’s office said anyone who is asked to send money for an international lottery should contact the police immediately.

WILLITS – Officials are warning about a telephone scam hitting the city of Willits. On Jan. 8, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office received several complaints of a telephone scam occurring at local businesses in and around the city of Willits, according to sheriff’s Capt. Kurt Smallcomb.
