The Winnipeg Police Service is warning the public of an internet scam. The scam comes via a free classified ad website, where the suspect, or suspects agree to purchase an item from the seller and forwards a money order for payment.

BENNINGTON — Police are warning the public to be cautious of any mail offering money or prizes after a possible check scam was reported to police. Vermont State Police were informed of the possible scam Dec. 17, when someone reported having received a check and letter from Allstate Insurance Co.
