Yesterday The Register had an article that piqued my interest because of it’s Pink Floyd -esque title. The post talks of how malware authors have developed a cross-site scripting worm which is now weaving it’s way across a Chinese social networking website in much the same way that the Mikeyy worm did on Twitter back in April of this year. This new worm, known as Pinkren-A, actually poses as a Pink Floyd video clip of one of their classics – ” Wish You Were Here”. You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video Whilst the above video clip of the Pink Floyd reunion is quite safe to watch, the one that is embedded in a message which is being circulated on the social networking site ultimately leads to the execution of a malicious piece of Javascript which then leads to further machines becoming infected
Hey, Teacher, Leave Those Worms Alone!
